15 Rescued After Bandit Leaders Surrender Arms in Katsina
Fifteen captives were released after notorious bandit leaders Abu Radde and Umar Black surrendered their arms to the combined forces of Operation FASAN YANMA in Katsina State on January 19, 2025.
The military operation initiated to dismantle armed groups in the Batsari and Safana Local Government Areas led to the surrender of four AK-47 rifles and the release of three men, eight women, and four children held hostage by the bandits.
The rescued individuals were promptly handed over to Local Government Authorities for rehabilitation and reintegration into society.
Authorities overseeing the event emphasised that the surrender was not the result of any negotiation or peace agreement. Instead, it represents a significant stride towards the complete disarmament of armed groups and the rescue of all kidnapped victims.
Military representatives and key stakeholders were present to ensure the process was conducted transparently.
The surrendered weapons have been secured by the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, while efforts are ongoing to locate and free other hostages still in captivity.
