King Misuzulu Dismisses Spokesperson, Cancels Wedding
AmaZulu King Misuzulu kaZwelithini Zulu has dismissed his representative and spokesperson, Prince Simphiwe Zulu, over neglected duties and strained relationships.
The king also cancelled his upcoming traditional wedding to Nomzamo Myeni, scheduled for later this month.
In a letter to Simphiwe Zulu, the king stated that the prince failed to uphold his responsibilities, which included being inaccessible as a spokesperson and mishandling communications.
These actions had caused tension within the royal house and with external entities, such as the Ingonyama Trust Board and government officials.
The king also announced that he would no longer proceed with his wedding to Myeni, despite having previously paid lobola and scheduled ceremonies for January 24 and 26. A source revealed that the king had been adamant about not marrying, citing personal reasons and upcoming rituals in Eswatini.
The royal house has reportedly welcomed the dismissal, calling it a relief.
