Wike Promises Completion of Southern Expressway by May

In a renewed commitment to infrastructural development, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has assured residents that the long-delayed Southern Expressway project will finally be completed by May this year. The road, which connects Apo to Karshi and Waru, has been under construction since the tenure of former FCT Minister Bala Mohammed.

During a recent media interaction, the minister urged residents to trust his administration’s dedication to delivering on promises. “I can assure you, by the grace of God, by the end of May, that road will be completed,” he said.

The minister criticized the tendency to politicise development issues, stressing the need to focus on delivering results rather than revisiting past grievances. “If I tell you I’m going to do this, you go home and sleep with your two eyes closed, that it will be done,” he stated confidently.

He further added that the present administration had already rehabilitated the road leading to the Nigerian Law School and equipped it with streetlights, showcasing its commitment to raising infrastructure standards across the FCT.
