US Lifts Sanctions on Illegal Israeli Settlers in Occupied West Bank

The US Treasury Department has announced the official lifting of sanctions on illegal Israeli settlers and groups in the Occupied West Bank, including the Amana Settlement Movement, which had been accused of violence against Palestinians.

The decision follows an executive order signed by President Donald Trump, reversing a policy set under President Joe Biden’s administration that targeted individuals and entities accused of destabilising the region.

The sanctions, previously imposed under Biden’s Executive Order 14115 on February 1, 2024, had aimed at addressing extremist settler violence, forced displacements, and property destruction in the West Bank.

However, Trump’s move to remove the sanctions was part of a broader repeal of over 70 executive orders after he re-entered the Oval Office.
