Abuja Doctors End Warning Strike
The Association of Resident Doctors in the Federal Capital Territory has called off its warning strike after the intervention of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
President of the association, Dr. George Ebong, in a statement, said the FCTA had met their demands.
On Wednesday, the doctors stopped work at all FCTA-owned hospitals over unpaid arrears and other demands. He said members had started receiving alerts of the six-months salary arrears. He also said the minister had approved and ordered immediate payment of the accoutrement allowance; approved the medical residency bonding to two years; approved the immediate employment of doctors and allied health workers to cushion the severe shortage of manpower and approved immediate payment of locum doctors and other health workers that were owed.
