Johannesburg Fire Leaves Families Homeless

Johannesburg emergency services plan to temporarily house families displaced by a devastating fire in the Booysens informal settlement.

The blaze, which erupted in the Johannesburg CBD on Monday, destroyed around 100 shacks, leaving many residents homeless.

Firefighters successfully contained the fire, preventing further damage, according to spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi.

“We will activate our disaster management officials to organise temporary shelter and provide food parcels and other assistance to those affected,” Mulaudzi stated.
