The faction of Afenifere led by Pa Ayo Adebanjo has named lawyer and activist Dele Farotimi its National Organising Secretary.
His appointment received approval during a general Afenifere meeting at Adebanjo’s home in Isanya Ogbo, Ogun State, on Tuesday.
This was stated in a communiqué released after the meeting and co-signed by the Deputy Leader, Oba Oladipo Olaitan, and the National Publicity Secretary, Prince Justice Faloye.
“The General Meeting considered and approved the appointment of Barrister Dele Farotimi as the National Organising Secretary of the Afenifere,” the statement said.
Farotimi’s appointment comes just a day after renowned legal practitioner Aare Afe Babalola agreed to withdraw a defamation lawsuit he filed against him.
Aare Babalola had taken the human rights lawyer to court for purportedly defaming him in Farotimi’s book “Nigeria and Its Criminal Justice System.”
Farotimi was granted bail set at N30 million by an Ekiti State High Court in Ado-Ekiti, where he appeared in court.
