A passenger aircraft’s tail caught fire at an international airport in Busan, South Korea’s second-largest city, on Tuesday, forcing the evacuation of 176 people, according to Yonhap News Agency.
The Air Busan flight, bound for Hong Kong from Gimhae International Airport, ignited at around 10:30 pm local time (1330 GMT).
A total of 169 passengers and seven crew members were safely evacuated using inflatable slides.
One person sustained injuries, but no further details were provided. The cause of the fire remains unknown.
South Korea’s fire authorities have yet to issue an official statement.

This incident follows the country’s worst aviation disaster last month, when a Jeju Air Boeing 737-800 crash-landed in Muan, killing 179 of 181 people on board.
Flightradar24 reports that Air Busan’s fleet consists entirely of Airbus aircraft.
