The Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, has dismissed two commissioners who were recently reinstated after their suspension, alongside three others.
The announcements regarding the dismissals were made on Wednesday, along with the appointment of five new commissioner nominees to take their places.
Musa Ashoms, the State’s Commissioner for Information, confirmed the news in Jos on Wednesday without elaborating on the reasons for the decision.
A letter from the Secretary to the Plateau State Government (SSG), Samuel Jatau, affirmed the removal of the five commissioners. The letter also conveyed gratitude for their contributions and extended best wishes for their future pursuits.
“His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barrister Caleb Mannaseh Mutfwang, has approved the removal of the following individuals from the State Executive Council: Hon. Sule Musa Haruna, Ministry of Commerce and Industry; Associate Prof. Obed Gossele Nanjul, Ministry of Science and Technology; Hon. Noel Naamiap Nkup, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development; Hon. Chrysantus Dawan, Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning; and Hon. Jamila Tukur Bitrus, Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Hospitality.”
The letter identified the new nominees for commissioner as Dr. Sunday Akpan from Bassa Local Government Area; Rt Hon. Joyce Lohya Ramnap, Mni, from Langtang South; Arc. Sylvanus Dongtoe from Shendam, Dr. Nicholas Baamlong from Qua’anpan, and Cornelius Doeyok, also from Qua’anpan LGA.
This action by the governor comes just three months after he reinstated two commissioners, Chrysanthus Dawan of the Ministry of Budget and Jamila Tukur Bitrus of the Ministry of Tourism, who were initially suspended in August 2024.
