The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced a change in the registration schedule for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Originally fixed for Friday, January 31, the process will now commence on Monday, February 3.
Dr Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, stated that the adjustment was necessary to incorporate essential updates to the registration process. He explained that the revisions were prompted by the recent suspension of certain law programmes at selected universities, as communicated by the Council for Legal Education.
“These adjustments came in light of the recent suspension of certain law programmes at selected universities, as submitted to the Board by the Council for Legal Education,” he said.
In addition, JAMB identified irregularities in the approval of some Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres. The board discovered that some centres had used misleading facilities to secure approval, necessitating further scrutiny and the removal of such centres from the system.
JAMB acknowledged that the rescheduling might cause inconvenience to candidates and other stakeholders and expressed regret for any disruptions caused by the decision.
The examination body also released the cost structure for the 2025 UTME and Direct Entry (DE) registration.
Candidates opting for UTME with a mock test will pay ₦8,700, while those without the mock test will pay ₦7,200. The cost for Direct Entry registration has been set at ₦5,700. Additionally, JAMB has introduced a mock trial for prospective candidates, which will require a ₦3,500 registration fee.
JAMB reiterated that the National Identification Number (NIN) remains a mandatory requirement for registration. Candidates must use a retrievable phone number to send their NIN to either 55019 or 66019 to generate a profile.
The board advised candidates under 18 years old to use a phone number belonging to a close relative, such as a parent, to ensure easy recovery if the SIM card is lost or damaged.
