Anambra Gets N3bn Diagnostic Centre

A N3 billion diagnostic centre is being built in Awka, the Anambra State capital.

The medical facility is a collaborative venture between three private firms: Apex Specialist Hospital; SEGOFS Energy Group and General Electric.

Founder of Apex Specialist Hospital, Professor Uchenna Nwosu, told newsmen during the foundation laying ceremony of the centre that the venture was aimed at providing tertiary diagnostic services in the state to save people of the state and the entire South East region from challenges in seeking medical services abroad.

Managing director of SEGOFS Energy Group and a former governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Chief Bath Nwibe, said his firm decided to go into the venture as a response to the think-home-philosophy of the state’s first civilian governor, late Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife.

He assured that his firm was ready to provide funds for the centre.

He added that his mother died a few years ago when blood ran into her brain, and lamented that it was possible she would have been saved if there was a modern diagnostic centre that detected the ailment.

A representative of General Electric whose partnership is to provide technical and manpower facilities, Mr. Promise Ike, stated that the centre would be AI-driven;  as it would be equipped with advanced technological facilities obtained in diagnostic centres in countries like China, India, United States and United Kingdom.
