According to reports from DAILY POST, Emmanuel Amuneke, has voiced his readiness to assume the helm as head coach. With uncertainties looming over the future of incumbent coach Jose Peseiro, Amuneke has emerged as a potential candidate to steer the Super Eagles towards future success on the international stage.
Peseiro recently guided the Super Eagles to a commendable second-place finish at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, showcasing his tactical acumen and leadership prowess.
However, with his contract expiring following the conclusion of the AFCON campaign, calls for the appointment of a local coach have gained momentum within Nigerian football circles.
Amuneke, who previously served as an assistant coach to Austine Eguavoen in the Super Eagles setup, has expressed his eagerness to contribute to the team’s resurgence.
In an interview on Central Television, the former football star affirmed his Nigerian heritage and his unwavering commitment to serving his country both on and off the field.
“I am a Nigerian, all my life I have served Nigeria as a player. If Nigerians now find me fit to add value to the team, of course, it is a welcome development,” remarked Amuneke.
