In an audio message to party loyalists, the APC chairman, Abdullahi Abbas, encouraged them to engage in fervent prayers as an expression of gratitude for the party’s recent victory at the Court of Appeal on Friday.
This call to fasting and prayer comes in the wake of the decision by the state governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), to contest the appellate court’s judgment at the Supreme Court.
In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the governor said he has instructed his lawyers to appeal against the judgement at the Supreme Court, adding that he is optimistic that “the Supreme Court will by the grace of Allah set aside these miscarriages of justice by the tribunal and Court of Appeal and reaffirm his mandate given by the people of Kano State.”
