BREAKING: Kano Gov’t Distributes Free School Uniforms To 789,000 Pupils

The Kano State government has commenced the distribution of free school uniforms to 789,000 pupils across 7,092 primary schools in the state’s 44 local government areas.

The initiative was officially launched on Monday by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, who reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving education standards in the state.

“Education remains a cornerstone for building a brighter future for our children and society. This initiative is a reflection of our dedication to removing barriers that prevent pupils from attending school,” Governor Yusuf stated. He also urged parents and guardians to ensure their children and wards attend school regularly, emphasising the importance of education in shaping the future.

The chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Yusuf Kabir, highlighted the financial relief the free uniforms will provide to families grappling with economic challenges. He described the programme as a deliberate measure to tackle the menace of out-of-school children in Kano State, which has been a persistent challenge.

On his part, the Commissioner for Education, Ali Haruna Makoda, commended educators for their dedication and called the uniform distribution a vital component of broader reforms. “This initiative goes beyond uniforms. It is about empowering the next generation with skills and opportunities to succeed and contribute positively to society,” Makoda added.
