Police Raid Black Spot in Abuja, Arrest 307 Suspects

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police command’s tactical teams apprehended 307 suspects during a raid at a marked black spot, Gidan Dambe in Dei-Dei -Zuba axis. FCT Commissioner of Police, Benneth Igweh, led the operation and recovered an English Pistol with fifteen rounds of 9mm ammunition from one suspect who claimed to be a DSS personnel. Other seized items include motorcycles, wraps of marijuana, illicit substances, and valuables suspected to have been stolen. Operation Velvet, launched on February 10, aims to curb vehicular criminality and other crimes in the Territory. Commissioner Igweh emphasized professionalism among officers and cautioned against extortion of residents, prioritizing public security.

JUST-IN: Gunmen Kill 4 In Plateau Village

Unknown gunmen attacked Nkienzha village in Plateau State’s Bassa local government area, killing four people and injuring one at around 11 pm on Sunday. The attackers set a house ablaze during the assault. Davidson Malison, the outgoing National Publicity Secretary of Irigwe Development Association (IDA), condemned the attacks as callous and barbaric, urging security agencies to apprehend and prosecute the perpetrators. The association called for immediate action to stop the mayhem and ensure the safety of the community. The incident adds to the ongoing security challenges in Plateau State.

Police parade 11 suspected armed robbers, others in Osun

The Osun State Police Command has arrested eleven suspects for alleged armed robbery, conspiracy, and theft. The arrests were made in various sting operations, leading to the apprehension of individuals involved in criminal activities. The recovered items include vehicles, bags of dry cocoa beans, a motorcycle, phones, and a gold chain. One suspect, Dada Taiwo, sustained gunshot wounds during a confrontation with the police and is hospitalized. The suspects have confessed to the crimes and will face charges after the completion of investigations. The police encourage the public to check the recovered exhibits at the headquarters in Osogbo to claim their lost valuables.

Police arrest three with hard drugs, another with gun in Delta

The Delta State Police Command has arrested three individuals in Asaba for being in possession of hard drugs. The suspects, Lucky Emmanuel (40yrs), Enunwuune Snu (46yrs), and Jacob Efedeye (32yrs), were apprehended in a Toyota Hiace, where the police discovered three cartons containing 100 bottles of codeine and 400 sachets of tramadol. Additionally, Fidelis Akpos (23yrs) was arrested on the Kwale-Ogwashi-Uku Expressway with a concealed locally fabricated pistol and two live cartridges inside a polythene bag containing smoked fish. The police, led by CP Ari Muhammed Ali, confirmed the arrests and seizures in a statement.
