Prayers not solution to economic hardship – PDP chieftain counters Pastor Adeboye

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Delta State, Chief Sunny Onuesoke, has countered the claim by the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, that Nigeria’s problems are spiritual.

Reacting to the cleric’s claim, Onuesoke stressed that “prayers can’t solve economic hardship” in the country.

Onuesoke made the assertion in a chat with DAILY POST correspondent in Warri, Delta State.

Onuesoke, an environmentalist, added, “Only a planned system with good governance can solve the economic problems in the nation.”

He stressed that Nigeria needs political solutions and not prayers to come out of its present challenges.

The Delta PDP leader urged President Bola Tinubu to wake up and take Nigerians out of hunger, hyper inflation and poverty.

AFCON: Sports minister backs Iwobi after cyber-bullying

Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Enoh, has urged Super Eagles midfielder, Alex Iwobi to keep his head up after facing heavy criticism from fans in the wake of Nigeria’s loss to Ivory Coast in the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday.

Nigeria lost 2-1 to the hosts, handing the Ivorians their third AFCON title while the Super Eagles’ unwanted record of losses in the final became five.

As a result, Iwobi was singled out for bashing by Nigerian fans, forcing the player to quit social media while there were also reports that he was considering quitting the national team.

Iwobi has received support from captain Ahmed Musa as well as his other teammates, and Enoh also patted him on the back after the team arrived in Abuja, the country’s capital in the early hours of Tuesday.
