BREAKING: TAOF Provides Cardiovascular Outreach To 300 Beneficiaries In Underserved FCT Community

The Annie Okonkwo Foundation (TAOF) has impacted several communities both in rural and underserved areas as over 300 beneficiaries have directly benefited from its cardiovascular outreach initiative in a bid to tackle the growing health concerns surrounding cardiovascular disease.

TAOF successfully implemented its Cardiovascular Outreach Initiative to directly impact over 300 individuals aged 40 and above.

The project, which was carried out in partnership with Juhel Pharmacy and Nolton Africa, provided free cardiovascular screenings, essential medications, and critical health awareness training to individuals who were at a high risk of heart disease.

Recognising that cardiovascular disease remains a leading cause of death among adults, especially those over 40, the Annie Okonkwo Foundation sought to take proactive steps in combating the threat.

In a statement sent to LEADERSHIP, Annie Okonkwo Foundation explained that through the TAOF Cardiovascular Outreach, over 300 community members in Kunchingoro IDPs Camp in Abuja received vital health screenings, which included checking for common cardiovascular conditions like high blood pressure, cholesterol, and early signs of heart disease.

In addition to the screenings, the Foundation provided a one-month supply of essential medications to ensure that participants had access to the treatment they needed for their health conditions.

The initiative also included comprehensive health education sessions, which empowered participants with the knowledge to understand the risks associated with cardiovascular disease and take actionable steps towards better health.

One of the beneficiaries of the cardiovascular check said before the screening, “I didn’t know I had high blood pressure, and I never imagined how important it was to monitor it. The free medication and the health advice I received will help me take better care of myself and avoid serious complications in the future. I’m so grateful for this initiative.”

The outreach is part of the Annie Okonkwo Foundation’s continued commitment to improving health outcomes in underserved communities.

With the necessary partnerships, the project was able to reach individuals who may otherwise have had limited access to critical healthcare services even as the initiative not only provided immediate relief but also contributed to a long-term shift in health awareness within the community.

TAOF said it remained dedicated to expanding its impact and plans to scale the outreach further, ensuring that more individuals, particularly those in rural and underserved areas, have access to essential healthcare resources and education.
