Brighton Thrash Woeful Man Utd After Denis Law Tributes

Manchester United suffered a humiliating 3-1 defeat against Brighton on an emotional day at Old Trafford, as tributes poured in for the late Denis Law. Ruben Amorim’s side delivered a lacklustre performance, adding to their growing troubles this season.

The sombre occasion, honouring United legend Law, who passed away at 84 on Friday, saw fans lay flowers and scarves at the ‘Holy Trinity’ statue, while a minute’s applause echoed around the stadium. Despite the poignant atmosphere, United failed to rise to the occasion.

Brighton struck early through Yankuba Minteh, capitalising on United’s sluggish defence. Though Bruno Fernandes levelled the score with a penalty in the first half, Brighton’s Kaoru Mitoma and Georginio Rutter secured the visitors’ victory with second-half goals.

Amorim’s tenure has been marred by inconsistency, with this loss marking United’s sixth league defeat in 11 games under his management. Defensive frailties and goalkeeping errors from Andre Onana once again plagued the team, leaving fans frustrated and departing early.

The result leaves United in 13th place, 10 points clear of the relegation zone but struggling to find stability. Brighton, on the other hand, extended their strong record against United, with six wins in their last seven league encounters.
