Court Grants Speed Darlington ₦20Million Bail

Justice Ekerete Alan of the Federal High Court in Abuja has granted detained singer Darlington Achakpo, known as Speed Darlington, bail set at ₦20 million with one surety in like sum.

The singer, facing a two-count charge of alleged cybercrime, pleaded not guilty during the hearing. His lawyer, Marshall Abubakar, successfully moved the bail application.

The court stipulated that the surety must be a Level 10 civil servant residing in Abuja, provide an affidavit of means, and have their address verified by the court registrar.

Additionally, the surety must work for either the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) or the Nigerian government and submit their letters of appointment and last promotion for verification.

Speed Darlington was ordered to surrender his international passport and provide two recent passport photographs along with the surety to the court registrar.

Pending fulfilment of the bail conditions, the singer remains in custody at Kuje Correctional Centre.

The trial is scheduled to commence on March 18.
