Moment Prince Harry lifts David Jarvis’ daughter over barrier
Prince Harry touchingly came to the assistance of a four-year-old girl who wanted to congratulate her dad on winning a gold medal at the Invictus Games in Düsseldorf, with the moment being captured on a clip posted on X, formerly Twitter.
David Jarvis from Team UK won gold in the cycling time trials and following his victory Harry is seen lifting his young daughter Sophia over the barrier, where she instantly runs into her father’s arms.
In an emotional moment David carries Sophia towards the rest of the family as they all embrace each other, with royal correspondent Victoria Ward saying there were “tears all round”.
The gold medals were later given out by Harry’s wife Meghan Markle on the penultimate day of the Games in Germany, with the royal couple a great success with competitors and spectators alike.
The Sussexes have been seen in the stands getting involved with all the sports, posing for pictures and laughing and dancing along in the crowd.
This Friday also marks Harry’s 39th birthday, and the crowd serenaded him with a rendition of Happy Birthday in the stadium after the announcer encouraged everyone to get involved.
The announcer asked the crowd at the Merkur Spiel-Arena: “Is there anybody here celebrating their own special occasion today?
“Anyone’s birthday? Oh I think it is someone’s birthday. A certain Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, 39 today. Happy birthday! Let’s sing along.”
Thea Ungermann from the restaurant and head waiter Frank Wackers told MailOnline: “He was a lovely man and was having a very jolly time. Meghan was lovely. They were very happy. He is a lovely man, and they were so nice.”
Sources close to the Prince said: “They drank local beer and ate family style dishes to experience a true German meal. Everyone was incredibly friendly, especially the waiters pictured in the photograph online.
“They did not dine in a private space and were in joyful spirits, toasting and laughing with the team.
“After dinner the group headed back to the hotel to sing happy birthday and eat cake just shy of midnight!”…..CONTINUE READING
