Houthis Warn of Continued Attacks if Gaza Ceasefire is Breached

Yemen’s Houthi leader, Abdul Malik Al-Houthi, has declared that the group would continue targeting vessels and Israel if the ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas in Gaza is violated.

The Houthis, who have previously launched over 100 attacks on ships in the Red Sea, stated that they would monitor developments in Gaza and resume operations if Israeli actions were perceived as continuing massacres against Palestinians.

Al-Houthi expressed the group’s readiness to provide military support to Palestinians if the ceasefire breaks down, despite previous indications they might halt their attacks if the conflict ended.

The group’s missile and drone strikes on ships have disrupted global shipping routes, with some vessels opting for longer journeys to avoid the Red Sea, increasing costs and contributing to inflationary concerns.

Israel has responded to the Houthis’ aggression by striking Houthi-controlled areas, including ports and power stations.
