How I’ve Been Feeding Since Vacating Office – Buhari

Former President Muhammadu Buhari has revealed that he sustains himself through income generated from renting out one of his two houses in Kaduna.

Speaking on Saturday at the All Progressives Congress (APC) caucus meeting in Katsina, ahead of the state’s local government election scheduled for February 1, Buhari shared insights into his post-presidency life.

The former president, who led Nigeria from 2015 to 2023, stated that he now feels “better and healthier” than during his time in office. Buhari emphasised that he did not use his position to amass undue wealth, disclosing that he owns just three houses: one in Daura, Katsina, and two in Kaduna.

Reflecting on the complexities of governance, Buhari noted, “Nigeria is a difficult country to govern, but most Nigerians are unaware. Leadership in this country reveals its complexities only when one is in a position of authority.”

The former president added, “After my eight years as a civilian president, I have only three houses. One of the houses in Kaduna is rented out, and that is where I get money for feeding.”

Buhari concluded by remarking on his improved health and appearance, saying, “Anyone who sees me now acknowledges that I look better than when I was in office.”
