Lagos City Marathon to Welcome 4,000 International Athletes
The 10th edition of the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon, set to take place on February 15, 2025, is expected to feature approximately 4,000 international athletes.
The marathon, known for its Gold Label Race status, is set to celebrate a decade of excellence and promises to be an unforgettable experience for participants and spectators alike.
According to Kola Daniels, the Special Assistant to the Director-General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), this year’s Lagos City Marathon will attract nearly 100 elite international runners, showcasing a global spirit of competition and unity.
With the theme “Love in the Air,” the race will be held just after Valentine’s Day, bringing vibrant energy and world-class hospitality to the streets of Lagos.
The 2024 edition was dominated by Kenyan runners, with Bernard Sang clinching the top prize, a $50,000 cash reward, while the women’s category was won by Ethiopian runner Kebene Chala.
The marathon has become a fixture in the international sports calendar, and the upcoming race is poised to build on its legacy of athletic excellence.
