Leicester Stun Tottenham, Piling Pressure on Postecoglou

Ange Postecoglou’s position as Tottenham Hotspur manager is becoming increasingly precarious following a 2-1 defeat to Leicester City on Sunday, a result that extends Spurs’ poor run and sees them drop further down the Premier League table.

Tottenham, having blown an early lead, now sit 15th with only one win from their last 11 league games. This latest setback marks a sixth loss in their past seven outings, putting Postecoglou under growing pressure to turn things around.

The defeat leaves Tottenham just eight points above the relegation zone, with their next two league matches against Brentford and Aston Villa, followed by a League Cup semi-final against Liverpool, likely to be decisive for the Australian coach’s future.

Tottenham hold a 1-0 lead over Liverpool from the first leg, and a strong showing in the Cup could temporarily ease the pressure on Postecoglou.

Despite claiming responsibility for the club’s injury crisis, Postecoglou’s tactical decisions and the overall intensity of the team’s performances have been heavily criticised, making his claims of being on the right path harder to believe with each defeat.

Meanwhile, Leicester’s manager, Ruud Van Nistelrooy, can breathe a little easier following a much-needed victory.

The Foxes are now one point above the relegation zone, with Van Nistelrooy’s job secured for now after overseeing seven consecutive losses before this win.

In a match where Tottenham fans voiced their frustration, including chants of “Levy out” and protests against club chairman Daniel Levy, Leicester equalised in the second half after a mishandled cross from Tottenham’s Antonin Kinsky.

Bilal El Khannouss scored the winner just minutes later, capitalising on Tottenham’s defensive lapses.

The loss compounded Tottenham’s ongoing struggles and further deepened the mounting pressure on Postecoglou, whose future looks increasingly uncertain.
