Man Arrested for Attacking Wife with Hot Oil, Knife

Kazeem Sholola has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for severely assaulting his wife, Mutiat, by pouring hot oil on her and stabbing her in the head during a domestic dispute. The incident occurred in the Ring Road Community, Owode Egba, within the Obafemi/Owode Local Government Area.

The attack took place following an argument between the couple, during which Sholola reportedly became enraged. In a fit of uncontrollable anger, he poured hot oil on Mutiat, causing severe burns, and then stabbed her in the head. The violence prompted a community member to alert the police at approximately 12:20 pm on January 18, 2025. The police swiftly responded, and Sholola was arrested at the scene of the crime.

The victim, Mutiat, sustained significant injuries and burns and was immediately taken to Ore Ofé Hospital in Owode Egba for medical treatment. Authorities have confirmed that she is receiving care for her injuries.

CSP Omolola Odutola, the police spokesperson, stated that the Divisional Police Officer in Owode Egba had swiftly intervened, addressing the case of gender-based violence and assault. The police have also examined the crime scene, and the suspect, Sholola, is now in custody and undergoing further investigation.

The police are expected to pursue appropriate legal action against Sholola as part of efforts to combat domestic violence in the region. Additionally, they are urging the public to report any similar incidents to the nearest police station in a bid to ensure safety and justice for victims of domestic abuse.

The case has sparked significant concern about the rise of domestic violence and the need for stronger intervention to protect vulnerable individuals.
