Brazilian footballer Neymar has parted ways with Al-Hilal, ending his injury-ridden 18-month spell in Saudi Arabia after a mutual agreement to terminate his contract.
The club thanked the 32-year-old, who played only seven matches since joining in August 2023 on a reported $104 million annual salary. Neymar’s time was marred by a cruciate ligament injury sustained in October 2023 while playing for Brazil.
Despite brief appearances late in 2024, further injuries sidelined him, prompting coach Jorge Jesus to acknowledge Neymar’s struggles to return to top form.
Neymar has expressed his determination to feature in the 2026 World Cup, calling it his “last shot.” Reports suggest a possible return to Santos, his boyhood club, as his illustrious yet injury-troubled career approaches its twilight.
