Osimhen Embroiled in New Controversy After Alleged Assault
Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen is reportedly involved in controversy yet again after allegedly hitting a Turkish journalist during a late-night incident in Istanbul.
The confrontation is said to have occurred late on Thursday night as Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, was leaving a nightlife spot with friends following a lacklustre UEFA Europa League game for Galatasaray two nights prior.
As per Turkish media reports, including Posta Newspaper, the conflict began when a group of journalists, including Tolga Bozduman, tried to take pictures of Osimhen as he departed the venue.
Neither Galatasaray nor Osimhen has made an official statement regarding the event, drawing considerable media attention in Turkey.
This isn’t the first instance of the Super Eagles forward attracting attention for off-field incidents. In August 2024, footage of Osimhen at a nightclub in Naples gained widespread attention, prompting concerns about his behaviour.
Despite the controversy, Osimhen has performed exceptionally well on the field this season, netting 15 goals and providing six assists in 19 matches across various competitions.
