Selena Gomez, the popular singer and actress, has reacted to calls for her deportation after sharing a heartfelt message about recent ICE raids in the United States.
The controversy began on January 28, 2025, when U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detained over 1,100 illegal immigrants in nationwide operations, sparking nationwide outrage and concern.
Gomez, who is of Mexican heritage, expressed her distress over the impact of the raids on vulnerable individuals, particularly children, in a tearful Instagram video, which was later removed.
“I’m so sorry. All my people are getting attacked. The children, I don’t understand. I wish I could do something. I will try everything, I promise,” she said, visibly emotional.
Her comments quickly attracted both support and criticism, including from Sam Parker, a former U.S. Senate candidate, who called for her deportation.
In her reply, Gomez posted a sarcastic response on Instagram: “Oh Mr. Parker, Mr. Parker. Thanks for the laugh and the threat,” appearing unfazed by the controversy.
