United’s Rollercoaster Season Set to Continue, Warns Amorim

Ruben Amorim has cautioned that Manchester United’s season will continue to be a “rollercoaster” as players adjust to his system, despite a dramatic 3-1 victory against Southampton.

The struggling Saints nearly pulled off an upset at Old Trafford on Thursday, but Amad Diallo’s remarkable 12-minute hat-trick turned the game around. This win follows a tough 2-2 draw against Liverpool and a morale-boosting FA Cup victory over Arsenal.

Amorim, who replaced Erik ten Hag in November, had already predicted turbulence, and despite the win, United remain in 12th place in the Premier League.

The Portuguese manager warned that the challenges would persist, with his team still involved in the FA Cup and Europa League.

“We are still in the (FA) Cup, and we have UEFA games for the Europa League,” Amorim said, stressing the need for a strong focus, especially with key matches against Rangers and Brighton ahead.

While acknowledging United’s poor performance against Southampton, Amorim noted that fatigue was a factor, particularly for players like Manuel Ugarte, who scored an own goal.

He added that a demanding fixture schedule with little time for training made it hard to maintain consistency.
