Youth Advocate, William Ikemba, Launches Podcast To Project Women, Girl-child Rights

In his quest to advance women and girl-child rights in Africa, Youth Advocate William Ikemba has launched ‘Perspective Podcast’.

On the podcast, he has interviewed global leaders in international development, giving them a platform to share their perspective on what needs to be done regarding women and girls’ rights.

As an intern at a global NGO called Engenderhealth, William has studied the devastating impact of the gender inequity in various parts of the world and decided to become a Global Women and Girls’ Rights activist, encouraging other young men to follow in his footsteps for the greater good.

William Ikemba’s upbringing gave him a passion for advocacy, a fiery will to stand up for others and he wants to spend a significant part of his life advocating for women and girls’ rights in Africa and finding ways to fund their empowerment. He believes that Africa’s suppression of 50% of its population is not only unjust but a root cause of many of the continent’s problems, including low life expectancy, low literacy rates and low GDP.

He will be making a case for resource mobilisation for the gender-related sustainable development goal #5 at this year’s United General Assembly and other key international fora.

“I aim to make a historic difference in the general trajectory of Africa and protecting Women and Girls rights is a major pillar in that progress,” he stated.
